Top 40 Insect Blog!
August 16, 2010
Exciting news: The Wild Bee was recently ranked among the Top 40 Insect Blogs! Thank you, dear readers, for the nomination!
Check out the list of other top entomology blogs here. I’m excited to explore them all! Some of my longtime favorites: Bug Girl’s Blog (though, sadly, like me, she hasn’t been posting that much as of late) and Myrmecos.
For you native bee lovers, Anna’s Bee World is certainly one to click over to!
As the summer wraps and fall begins, look forward to more frequent posts here at The Wild Bee! And, again, many thanks to those who nominated this blog for the award!

All the insects of the world are quite pleased about this news. Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Caught a big nasty bug today, looks like a grasshopper and a spider with spikes on its rear. Fills up a baby food jar. Putting out feelers if it is a good catch and if anybody would want to check it out. Anything you know that could send me down the right path?
You might try poking around BugGuide.net to see if you can find your critter there. If not, the Bug Guide folks also do their best to ID bugs via photo — you can submit a photo. I am going to make a shot in the dark and say: is it a potato bug? I’m not sure where you are located, but California is experiencing a uptick in potato bug numbers… Good luck!
